When Pirate Monkeys Play "Fair"...

Everyone wins.

Mario Girl & One-Eyed-Jack joined 4-H this yr. & showed off their piratey monkey skills at the county fair.

Mario Girl showing her smiley skirt. She got a blue ribbon in construction, & a blue ribbon in modeling for this one of a kind fashion piece.

She modeled this storybook summer dress winning a blue in modeling, a purple in construction, meaning it went to state, & a $100 scholarship for most creative construction.

This is Oreo but not the cookie kind you can eat.
It's the bunny kind that you can eat; if it wasn't so dang cute.
Mario Girl won 4th in Showmanship, & 1st in her class. Apparently this Oreo is a good mini dutch specimen, except for one little tiny freckle on her nose. She is also a good breed for showmanship 'cuz they are so mellow. Which explains why she has not killed over during any of our frightful rival pirate raids. You know like when the neighbor's dogs come over & bark under her cage.

This is Goldie. Mario Girl showed her in open class & won like last place. She still got $2 for it though.

Mario Girl also entered 6 pictures 2 of which made purple, the others got blue. She entered brownies that got a blue ribbon, & a widget thingy that got a red ribbon.
All purple ribbons went to state fair!!!

One-Eyed-Jack entered Totoro the mighty cat in the fair & won blue ribbons for him. The seas where a little rocky that day so the pictures are blurry from all the rocking back & forth of the ship. The Capt'n is going to try & finagle something up to post later.

He entered Aspen the prickly cannonball and got these nice plaques for him. I think he got ribbons too but I don't remember.

He also entered a lego mindstorm robot that he got for his birthday getting a purple ribbon. He also entered a widget thingy getting a red ribbon for that. Note that his one purple ribbon also went to state fair.

They are pretty excited about the ribbons they got. Next year they want to put more in the fair for 4-H & for open class. There is loot to be got at the county fair & this year was just the beginning...

As for the Capt'n & I, we plundered people by selling the magical candy no one can resist!!!!!

We pirates & monkeys have been busy pillaging again, ARGG!!

Catch up:

One-Eyed-Jack was promoted to the next level of pirate school. I am not so sure that I want him to be getting older. 9th grade people! 9th GRADE!!! None of the pictures turned out :(

Sulfur, geysers & grizzly bears OH MY!! We tried to pillage Yellowstone National Park, but the rain got in our way. We sailed through & pillaged Jackson Hole.
On our sail through the majestic park we saw a grizzly bear, lots of bison, stopped a lot to look at geysers & hot springs.

The Capt'n wore his kilt which brought about some great reactions of people around us. Some people commented that they liked it, others gave glares of disapproval, while others tried to just not look. We like to walk behind him when he wears it so that we can see & hear peoples reactions. It makes for great entertainment.

We sailed around our home port taking pictures of the flooding that resulted from the massive cloud bursts we had during the 5th month of the pirate calendar. Pirates & monkeys like flooding; it tickles our hearts with giddiness.

As you may know Mario Girl turned 9 recently. To celebrate she had friends over on Saturday for a party. They made their own individual pizzas, watched G-force, and ate cupcakes that Zoe made(all of which I took no pictures of). On her birthday she got a guinea pig cage & a guinea pig. This animal has been living in her school class as a pet for most of the year & they love each other very much. Her name is Goldie.

I was going to put a short video of Goldie making sounds, but once again blogger has failed me.

In April Mario Girl learned how to make french toast because:
"All my friends know how to make it".
forget that she can make brownies, pancakes, bacon, cookies...
Step 1: crack the eggs

Step 2: whip eggs & dip bread

Step 3: flip bread when brown

Step 4: EAT!!! No picture of this, but it was very good french toast!!

She also made a twirly skirt. I think that the socks make the skirt, but that could just be me. Thanks for the accessories Aunt M.

One-Eyed-Jack did not make a skirt although he given the option.
& he already knows how to make french toast.
Mostly he plays video games & that is not as exciting to take pictures of.
I will have to give him some pirating to do that is exciting.

Adventures in PirateMonkeyville!!

The adventure starts in the galley with Mario Girl perfecting her brownie making. This is just one batch that she made in the last month. They were very tastey by the way!! YUM YUM!!

The next arggventure was at the school of pirates & monkeys where One-Eyed Jack showed off his trumpeting. He did GREAT!!!

Then we got ready for the holiday of bunnies, & chocolate, & colored eggs.

This is a cute little baby cow that we saw on our drive south the other day. These are my favorite kind of cow. I like the red color and the curls. This baby was brand new & not with his mom & we saw a coyote near the herd so I think it got eaten. :(
He will live on in this blog & in our pictures, & the part of my heart that loves red cows.

Okay first of all the last post was from One Eyed Jack. He got a Lego Mindstorm for his birthday & has to program it to do stuff. He is excited that he figured out how to make it turn on the color red. It really is a long & thought provoking process to program it, so that is an accomplishment. I told him to identify himself in the post but he didn't. Also I should have checked the content to make sure it made sense. Next time I will check it before he posts.

Now on to today's post; Sledding. I took the kids to the sand dunes where we found one patch of snow to sled down. It was fun & the temperature was perfect. The wind was blowing, but it always blows. Here are the videos I took on my phone. Okay so I say Video-ing in the second video. Video-ing for real? How dumb. I know I should have said recording but videoing is what came out. DOH!!!

We decided to arm our pirate faction with some weapons, well just one weapon.

Our plan of defense is simple & genius! When we are about to be attacked by other marauding pirates Genevieve will bark the alarm, Totoro will run & hide or play with one of his toy balls depending on his mood, & our new weapon will be hurled(gently handed over) like a cannonball at the approaching rapscallions.

At first it's spikes will shock & surprise them, & then as it unrolls it's cuteness will make them forget their reason for their encroachment.

Like I said GENIUS!!!

Saturday we went to the local lake, drilled holes in it, put in little fishing poles & sat waiting for cold hungry fish to bite. None of them did :(

But we(i.e the Capt'n) got some awesome pictures of the ice & the fun.

A Pirate & Monkey Christmas

We pirate monkeys celebrate the festive holiday o' Christmas the same time the rest o' the country does. On Dec 25th. & festive it was.

This year we put us up a real fake tree fur swinging from. No more be the tree of felt & staples. It not be good fur the swingin'. That be the monkey in us wantin' to come out & play.
It be rite dandy & as purty as a fake tree decorated with random decorations put on by an 8 yr old galley princess. So it be, so it be.

We got some snow& coldness that be freezin' our tushies, so we be usin' our stove to warm them nicely.
I made lasagna, cheesecake, and a creamy lime pie. We ate lasagna fur a week after. It was so yummilicous!!! Here be a list o' what the monkeys got:

Mario Girl: A cloak made by meself, a galley pirate princess hat made by the white beard grandpa, an Obama camping doll set from grandma art, Twighlight the movie from the Capt'n, tights from grandma "I'm so old it's okay to be crazy", a sweater jacket from Grandma/pa Baggs, Night at the Museum #2 from One-Eyed-Jack, & a few other odds & ends.
One-Eyed-Jack: Halo ODST for the X box from the Capt'n hisself, Xbox controller & new batteries from us both, pants from me, a big fluffy stuffed animal (dog) for use as a pillow from Mario Girl, a monkey sling shot with Mad Libs(most awesome) from a cousin, some clothes from the Baggs grandparents & " kinda" crazy g-ma, & some little odds & ends.
The Capt'n: got a tripod for his camera, kilt socks, foot scraper & gel, slippers, Frigits, a safety belt? not sure what that means, & other stuff.
Me: I got a Bias tape maker, some music, a jewelry box, candy, a book, & other stuff
These are just some of the great treasures we got for Christmas.

We sailed over to the great town of Baggs to visit the King & Queen that dwell there. They feed us, so that we wouldn't have to plunder for our grub, & entertained us with some great card games.
Just today the Provo-itish dwellers left after a great adventure pillaging, & plundering our town for history(local Museum), food, & swimming.

As I type, my mother along with Tog & The Cowboy are headed in my direction. As long as they have their sails up they will have a good journey since the wind will blow them straight here. & we will get to see the newest monkey little Neg.
We will celebrate the New Year with food, friends, and dangerous duels (the game of spoons), but that be another story still to be lived.

AArGGs- giving adventures

This year for Thanksgiving we went to Baggs to visit the Capt'n's mom & stepdad aka King Baggs. We lovingly call them grandma & grandpa Baggs. Ariel the water princess was there as well. She brought her dog Nova. Now I thought that just maybe Nova & Genevieve would get along, but Nova had other plans. She exploded into a territorial Super Nova. :(

Grandma Baggs or Queen Baggs I shall call her, invited some friends over to enjoy the day of gluttony. That was fun to get to know the art teacher of Baggs. The other family didn't stay long. They had little pirates that needed naps, so they went home.

King Baggs' mom was there in body giving us all reason to be thankful for our sanity & youth. Oh to be old & not quite there. Still love her.

Mario Girl made a thankful tree for the table. We all wrote what we were thankful for on the leaves that she made and hung from the otherwise dead branch she plucked from the lifeless bushes outside.

We overstuffed ourselves with turkey, jello salad, stuffing, rolls, and other good pirate monkey foods. We then commenced to the pie. YUMMY pie!!!!

My mom came down on Friday to visit us in our colder & windier state. Maybe she came up cause we are further north.

Saturday we set our sails to the east & went to Laramie. We shopped & got some great loot for the Christmas holiday so vastly approaching.

One-Eyed-Jack tried to make Mario Girl into a Mario Boy on the way to Laramie only to find that it's hard to draw on a face with only one eye. He claims to have done it on purpose to be funny. But we all know that one-eyed pirate monkeys aren't good at drawing two sides. ;)

Mario Girl showed some true pirate skills by spotting a penguin blow up chair on a shelf that proclaimed "All items Free". So she grabbed the bag & ran like the good pirate she is. Howling like a monkey all the way to the car.

Friday we set our sails & let the wind take us to adventures in Denver.
We found ourselves at the MilehiCon. A convention for gamers, and scifi lovers of all degrees.

The kids enjoyed activities in wizardry, anime, mask making, coloring, and role playing.
The Capt'n was in heaven as he met some wonderful & amazing people.
I found it to be great fun to look at the many costumes, mullets, & wonderful artwork & crafts on sale & for auction. I wanted to buy a few things, but found that the eccentric is very costly. :(

There were some great things caught on camera for us to remember & enjoy for years to come. I will share a few of these pix.

All in all we truly enjoyed ourselves & can't wait to go back next year. Dressed in character of course. Next year I will not suggest to Mario Girl that we sit & watch Buffy the musical!!!! & I will definitely NOT miss The Rocky Horror Picture Show!!!

National Holiday for all Pirates

This 19th day o' september has been declared Talk like a pirate day.

This be the nation'l holiday for us pirates!!!

So what do pirates do on this special day you ask?

Well we scrubbed all the decks, & plundered the nearest port for grub. In the even'in we honored the most famous of pirates (Jonny Depp) by watching Pirates of the Caribbean.

For grub time we caught some beer battered fish shaped like triangles, plundered the vineyards for the freshest grapes; to keep away the scurvey(nasty stuff that is), raped a maiden of her cows milk, & used it to make puddin' with the aztec chocolate we pillaged from the new world natives.

We even captured us some dirty scalleywags & forced them to pay homage to the great pirate & we forced 'em to consume the deadliest of all poisons disguised as jello popcorn. Then we sent 'em with a fierce warning to all that dare cross our pirate path again!!

All in all I would have to arg this a very piratey day indeed. We did miss the Cap'n as he was called the the port o'work. We be optm'stic we be see'in 'im again soon. Treasure collect'in is a long & ard'us endev'or.

Long time no blog!!!

Okay so I know that it has been a little while since I last blogged our life as pirate monkeys, but with good reason. I AM LAZY!!!!!!

I started a new job working at the University extension office. I am a secretary there and I like it. I just spent the week at the county fair. I am very tired now.

We went to Disneyland the last week in June for the Capt'ns mom's birthday. That was a lot of fun. It was my first visit there and so I got a pin to wear. The birthday girl got a birthday pin. The kids got a pin for their first time also. Just a note to all: The Small World ride SUCKS big time DON"T go on it if you value your sanity!!!!!!! After that ride I am convinced that the world is not small it is long and obnoxiously loud!!!! I would have to say that the best part of the vacation was the beach. I LOVE the beach and I dream about it on a regular basis. In fact I just had a dream the other day that we moved to Brookings Oregon. It was a very good dream; then I woke up and was still here in Wyoming.

Mario Girl took an outdoor class and learned about bugs and weeds. She loved it. She even got to bring home bugs in a jar. We watched them try to crawl out of the holes in the top. She took very good care of them.

1-eyed-Jack went to scout camp where I am sure that he got in lots of trouble. He got back the day that I started working the fair so I haven't really had time to talk to him about it. Tomorrow he goes to Colorado on a river trip. He is very excited about that.

They both had swimming lessons. They are such good little swimmers.

And last but by far not least, our computer in the living room died a very sad and painful death. We have it spread out on the diningroom table for all to see. We are old fashion that way.
We moved the bedroom computer into the livingroom. It has none of this years pictures on it so I can not post them at this time. I think that they are backed up somewhere, but The Capt'n hasn't put them on this comp yet.
So once again I have sent out a blog with no pix. Maybe next time. BYE

I haven't posted in awhile. That is because the life of land pirate monkeys is a long and hard life. We must always be pillaging, & discovering new adventures.

Spring Break

Monday we went to Steamboat Springs Colorado. We stayed in a cabin in the Strawberry Park hot springs. It was beautiful weather and a lot of fun just laying around being lazy. We came home on Wednesday. The only tragedy is that I lost my glasses, so now I am wearing my contacts again.

Oh ya & that I am not very smart 'cuz I got "sun"burned in a tanning bed. Next time I feel sick & freezing cold I will stay away from the tanning beds. They are too warm to leave. Momma says stupid is as stupid does.

OK I have been trying to post this since Thursday & the pix won't upload, so I give up. NO pix thanks to stupid computers!! Just imagine them I guess.

We also did a craft during the break, but alas NO pic. :(

Golden & Freaky Birthday!

Today our little One-Eyed-Jack turned 13. I can't believe he is officially a teen now. I never thought this day would come. It truly saddens me to think that he is getting soooo big.
He had a party today to celebrate his birthday on this very auspicious day.
They went on a scavenger hunt with 13 items that had something to do with good luck or bad luck. Superstitions.

I made him a black cat cake. It was frosted while they were on the hunt.

Then they played on the x-box. I think that they all had a lot of fun.

He got lots of money for our voyage to California this summer, a watch that he has been drooling over for the last several months, a remote control moth, an Airzooka, and some boardgames. Thanks to all who sent him gifts and cards. He loves them. He loves getting cards.

*Notice in the picture that my front door is open. It was warm today and sunny and NO wind. Yeah!!!

Other piratey news:

I have suffered from sinus infections off and on for many years now. Lately these infections have been more on than off. I have a chronic sinus infection and so have been put on antibiotics for 30 days. I also went and got a C.A.T scan of my sinuses to see what is going on with them. I should find out the results on Tuesday. I am hoping that the scan shows something and that whatever is wrong can be fixed. I will keep you posted.

Mario Girl's school is collecting box tops for a field trip to Denver in May. Please save and send all box tops that you can. They are going to the aquarium. It is a really cool place and they are all very excited to go.

Dr. Suess & Kitty too!

First I would like to announce that we have come up with a name for our newest family member. The name at which he will be referred to from this day forward (except for when he is bad) will be Totoro. I took him to the vet yesterday for shots and a checkup. He is a very healthy 11.5 lb cat. He is still young and has a few years of growing to go. We expect him to get up to about 20 lbs. He will be hefty. Hopefully he will be a good mouse catcher. Every good ship has at least 2 cats.

Now for the picture of the day, week, and month: Mario Girl dressed as Little Cindy Lou Who from Dr. Suess. This week her school celebrated Dr. Suess' birthday and today was the colminating party. I think that she should wear her hair like this everyday. LOL

Okay so I know I have over blogged this short month, and this could have waited for tomorrow when it is March, but I NEED to vent, to put it nicely!!!! I will keep it short

I HATE HATE HATE over protective, over bearing, controlling mothers that think I am a bad parent!!!!!!!! I may not ever get mother of the year, but I am a darn good parent. I think that I do a very good job raising my kids and that I am good to them.

So this goes out to ALL the over bearing, over protective, control freaks out there that think I am raising my wonderful, smart, kind, and independent thinking children the wrong way:

SCREW YOU!!!!!!

This all comes because once again someone I know that literally doesn't let her child out of her site except to go to school, thinks that I am not a good parent, therefore her child can't play with mine. This child can't cross the street or go next door to play with a friend . She is only allowed to be at home, and school. If you're whole experience of life is only what you see and hear from your front yard, then DON'T judge those that live beyond your restrictive boundary!!!!!!!
Now that I got that out I feel much better.

New Family Members

This weekend we got 2 new family members!
One was because my brother J.C. got married. I don't have any pix yet but it was a nice wedding. I wore my silly blue dress, and walked down the isle pretending I looked good. The bride was beautiful. The groom was handsome. The ring boy was cute as a button. And the flower girls were adorable. Congrats to the couple.

The second family member is a cat we adopted at the SLC Humane Society. He is a big brown tabby. He is 1 1/2 yrs. old, a stray, but is very calm and easy going. Although he has claws we are happy to have a new member in our house. We miss having a calm and friendly cat around. Meow is high strung.
He looks like Gocku cuz the Cap'n likes that type of cat. I bought it for him as a gift. He is sitting on the Cap'ns lap right now while he watches Madagascar 2 with the kids. It's very cute. He is already a huge cat. He is going to be ginormous!!!

Friday The 13th!!!!!!

Being Friday the 13th I thought that I would throw a blog out there at ya all.

I really have nothing more to say about the day. I just want to post on a "spooky" day. I did almost buy a black cat today, but decided against it since the Cap'n wasn't there to help decide.

Here are my random thoughts that I am going to rant about:

Weddings: I am beginning to really hate them. I have one to go to for one of my brothers on the 20th. It wouldn't be so bad except that I can't just show up to it. I have to make a dress (UGH). I have had the most difficult time with making the dress. I am about ready to give up and show up in dark blue scrub bottoms and a t-shirt.

Oh the things I do for the ones I love. Two marriages in 5 months is a lot. First large amounts of aprons, now a dress that will look like who knows what when it's done.
Ariel DON"T get married this year please. If you do please just let me be an observer not a participant. I just want to watch for once. That or buy me my dress.

My next rant isn't a rant, but an awe inspiring observation with pix. Eagles:
As we have traveled this month and last month we have noticed that the eagles are in great abundance. It is awesome!! One day I think that we saw at least 10 of them; bald and golden. Today on my way to Casper for new material for the dress disaster, I saw 2 eagles. They may be scavengers, but they are beautiful ones. So here are the pix of the national scavenger. Plus a pix of a golden eagle.

Now that it is February I am going to update my blog. January was not the best month here on our little ship. Mario Girl had a tooth pulled, our beloved cat passed onto kitty heaven, and to end the month we lost one of our bunnies. Star has gone on to grassy fields were she can bounce and hop in happiness and freedom. So now we are down to 1 dog, 1 cat, 1 bunny.

With Groundhogs Day on the 2nd I am wondering whether I want him to see his shadow or not. I mean this is a big day(LOL). It will determine the future and our spring dreams.

I would love to have spring to be just around the corner, but on the other hand I would love the 6 weeks to get in shape for summer.

Farewell

Our wonderful and beloved cat Gocku did not make it. He died this afternoon in my arms.
He was just too weak to recover from his recent stress. We love him and will miss him terribly.
Mario Girl has made a tribute wall hanging for us to write down the things we loved about him. He was truly a remarkable cat. He lived through more then a cat should live through. Severe asthma, a huge abscess on his head, numerous cat fights, and anaphilactic shock on many occasions.

We will miss him snuggling with us at night, and meowing at us every time he came home until we said hi. We will miss his face and his calm personality. We will miss his heavy body laying on us and his dead weight when we moved and he refused to get off. We will miss his growling at the fish 'cuz he could never get them. I will miss finding my hair ties in his food.

He was the friendliest cat ever. He always had to get to know anyone that came to visit. He was never afraid of strangers. He would run to the door whenever someone knocked or came in so that he could see them too.

They both have bad teeth. Bad joke, bad pun, bad day for both.

Mario Girl got her bad tooth pulled out yesterday. We drove 2 hours to the dentist, spent 15 minutes in the office, and drove 2 hours home. Of course we did stop at Wal-Mart for 20 min. and got ice- cream at Cold Stone, and lunch at Subway. We still spent more time driving then anything else.
We do have dentists here in town but they are nowhere as good as this one. He is very kind and accommodating, the dentists here are not accommodating. She is well and promising better dental care. That is her new years resolution to be broken.

Now for the cat. Gocku our wonderful tabby cat of 11 years had to have both canine teeth on the right side pulled today.
We noticed something was wrong when we got back from Utah, but just thought that it was his asthma acting up. He wasn't eating and had lost a lot of weight while we were gone. I started him on Prednisone in hopes that he would get better. After a week he still wasn't eating much and looked really sick, and lethargic. I decided to look him over for wounds, cuz he likes to fight with cats outside a lot. I noticed that one of his teeth was missing. Actually it was broken off.
I called the vet yesterday and took him in on my way out of town. He was so dehydrated and anemic that she couldn't put him under. She tried to put him on an i.v. but he was too dehydrated even for that. She had to put fluids in him by giving him shots just under the skin and letting his body absorb it.
Today he was doing well enough to be put under. Both of his canines were decayed so she pulled them both. I wonder if they have dentures for cats (hahaha).
He is home and hiding under the computer, cuz he is over drugged, and sad.

New Year, New Adventures

2008 seemed to fly by. I can't seem to remember all that happened. I will try to remember the the main points.

I started Blogging our life.
I graduated with my AS ofA.
We bought a yellow jeep. We blew two tires on our new jeep. We had to take our new jeep in to be fixed. We broke a front suspension on the new jeep. We lost a few plastic guards on the bottom of our new jeep. We got stuck and had to call a friend to get us out. We played hard and saw a lot of Carbon County we hadn't seen before.
One-Eyed Jack turned 12 and received the arronic priesthood. He has been passing the sacrament.
Mario Girl turned 7.
We went on a rafting trip in Green River Ut. Where Jenni, Ashton and I thought we were going to DIE!!!
I got called to teach the Conference talks in Relief Society. Scary
Mario Girl got a major tooth infection; story to continue into 2009.
I got a job at the High School. I love it; NO RECESS DUTY!!!!!!!
The Cap'n still working at the Hospital as a Nurse. He is really good at it.
We got Rock Band 2. It is much better than guitar hero!!!
TOG got married. It's about time!!!!

I think that those are the highlights of the year. We are hoping for another great year of fun.

Now for those pesky resolutions that I never seem to meet.

1. Stop yelling. Yes I am a yeller, but I hope to end it this year.
2. Listen better to The Cap'n. I interrupt a lot.
3. Read scriptures everyday.
4. Hold some kind of FHE. At least twice a month.
5. Attend the Temple 12 times.
6. Live my beliefs better. I have been slacking, and not living what I believe.
7. Do some kind of community service.
8. Forgive those I haven't.
9. Clean my house more. I am not a good housekeeper.
10. Finish two quilts, enter one in a show and sale it.

It's all fun & games 'til a cheek swells up

Well we made it through Christmas without too much damage.

We went to Utah and spent some time with Mine and the Cap'ns family. We had a lot of fun seeing everyone.

On the 26th the Cap'n and I went to SLC to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed at the Anniversary Inn. It is a really cool place to stay. The rooms are all themed. We stayed in the Jungle Safari room. We roamed SLC without any family to visit. Not that we don't like family but it was nice to have no obligations.

Saturday morning my mom called to tell us that Mario Girls mouth was swollen. She called her dentist and got an antibiotic. Sunday when our time alone was over we went to my moms and swollen cheeck was an understatement. She looked like she had a water balloon inflated in her left cheek. We called out dentist and arranged an emercency visit that night. So we got in the car and drove to Rock Springs. We meet the dentist at 8pm. He drilled a hole in her tooth so that the puss and gasses could drain. One of her baby molers had completely died and was rotting!!! Now we have to take her back next wk to have the tooth pulled.

After we left the dentist the Cap'n realized that he lost his cell phone. We back tracked to the dentist; not there. So we drove all the way back to Lyman to the rest stop to see if he had dropped it there; nope. We checked Taco Bell to see if he dropped it there; nope. Long story, he lost his cell phone!!!!

We got home at 1am. We used all of yesterday to recover. We are sad about the phone situation, and the tooth thing. But we will live.

Our cute little Mario Girl did a wonderful job singing at her school's Christmas program on the 2nd. She played a student while some of her friends played aliens invading the "school". Grandma Baggs (she hates this nickname but what can I do? LOL It was not me that gave it to her) was in attendance. The Cap'n took some great pix of our Galley Princess doing what she does best;look cute and curtsy. Our Look Out Boy performed on the 9th. We have pix of him too. They played a really cool piece called cantastick. It was performed on chairs. It was awesome.

Pix will have to come later. The Cap'n hasn't put the pix in a folder I can access. I have asked but I guess he just hasn't gotten around to it.

Slacker? Duh I'm a Pirate!

Okay so I have slackened in my blogging.

We have done much since I last blogged.

We had Halloween. That was fun. The kids dressed up as themselves. LOL! We had the Corpse Bride, and a Zombie. We ate boogers on a stick, runny nose burritos, and day old bath water to drink. It was all very yummy. The kids liked the bath water the best. We went to the hospital so the Cap'n could show them off. The soldier is a friend of the zombie.

The candy that we gave was just as good: rubber chickens, road kill, and pirates. Oh ya and Mary Jane's. I love those!!!

I like how I my mouth is open too.

We went to SLC and got my armoire from the Wildes. They have only had it for like 10 years so I figured we should get it so they don't have to move it to their new house. It looks very cute in my room. Mario girl loves to turn circles in front of it. She can now she her whole outfit.

I am sure that there is more, but I can't think of anything right now so I will call it good for now.

Corn Maze Adventure

To my sadness Google maps is not always right.

I found this out on the 18th when we went to Colorado in search of the awesome corn maze I found on-line. I looked up the maze, got the directions on Google maps, and headed east. As we got to Erie Colorado we commenced in turning down streets only to find ourselves in the middle of a subdivision. NO corn maze!!!!! I had the wrong directions. I had put my trust in the arms of a computer and was lead in the wrong direction. SO SAD!!!

Lucky for us we had passed a smaller corn maze on our way to our lost-ness. We turned around and went to that maze. It cost more and was not as big, but the kids had fun making their way through the maze. There was a small petting zoo, a straw bale maze, and pig races.

Ok, this is the fourth pictures in the fourth folder in my pictures. It is a picture Cap'n took at my graduation. We all had to walk outside on a sidewalk leading to the gym. All the teaching staff of WWCC was lined up on the sides giving congradulations and clapping as we walked past. I am not in this picture. I guess he couldn't find me. WEEZER!!!

Last night Cap'n Mo, Ariel*(my water loving engineer sis-in-law) and I went to Weezer in SLC. It was awesome!!! The hootin' nanni at the end was funny. About thirty local instrument players got up on stage with Weezer and performed 2 songs.

I truely regret not taking my camera and MP3 player. I must get me a small purse/bag to put all essential concert items in so I don't have to lug around my huge purse. That is why I forget to take the important stuff. I always leave my purse at "home".

I was shocked and pleasantly pleased at the lack of foul language at the concert. Weezer is not a foul mouthed band, but I thought that they might be when talking to the crowd. They said heck. It was not at all disparaging to this audience member. There were a lot of families there. So apparently it is a good family night show.

Angels and Airwaves was one of the cover bands. Let me tell you, Tim the lead singer is very flamboyant on stage. I have never seem anyone move around the stage the way he did. It was mesmerizing. Either he was trying to be an angel or he was high. He still has a good voice though and lots of money so he can move however he wants.

My only thing I didn't like about the show was that the e-center is a huge venue. I really prefer the small venues. We went to Ministry and NOFX at In the Venue and it was awesome. The smaller venues seem cozier and as the Cap'n says Hoodlumy.

Next time we will have to take our cute One-Eyed-Jack. He would have loved it. It was also not a roudy crowd so I wouldn't have had to worry about him getting stuck in a mosh pit!!

Argh like a pirate, matey

Argh me mateys! I know that this blog is late, but I was busy pillaging, looting and all that. And that was only the morning of National Talk Like a Pirate Day. That night we watched all the Pirates of the Caribbean, ate fish and "Chips". We put lemon juice on the fish to keep the scurvy at bay. We also ate ice-cream. It was a jolly time with the scalleywags.
I did teach the student I work with to say Argh, so we did enjoy argh-ing at school.
I think that the Cap'n had too much of the pirateing 'cuz he got the stomach flu and has been throwing up again. I think that fun and travel makes him sick LOL.

Wedding Daze

My sister TOG is officially married and hooked for life and beyond. Poor soul. LOL.

Friday night we hopped into our silver sailing vessel and headed in a Westerly direction. The weather was on our side as we traveled the waves of tar and sage. we forgot to bring CD's on this voyage and our radio channels are very limited and at times non existent, so we were delighted and uplifted by the sweet musical talent of Mario Girl. She is more then just a galley princess. She is a very multi-talented wonder of joy. She loves to make up songs. The song that she sang for us was a jolly rendition of "Llamas making chocolatey". Not only is that the name of the song, that is all the words in the song. although chocolatey is repeated over and over again. This was a delight on the way to utah and on the way home.

Saturday we went to SLC Temple for the binding of two poor souls who are too nieve to know better. The temple ceremony was beautiful. There were more people getting married on 9-13 then there are in June or December. It was crazy crowded. You'd think it was the last and only chance there was to get married in the temple.

The most disturbing thing about the whole thing was that we found out that the malls were torn down. NO one told us this. We were beyond ourselves. After the ceremony we drove around looking for any mall that we could roam. We did find one to the Cap'ns relief.

Later we drove to Tooele for the reception. We had pictures taken, we ate food (thanks mom), and visited with people we haven't seen in awhile and won't see again until another wedding or a death. See you all then!! I took pictures but they didn't all turn out well. I was in a hurry as the Cap'n was sick and throwing up and other fun things that come with stomach sickness.

We drove home on Sunday. The Llama song was once again wonderful. I wish that I could record it and play it for you all. It is truely a song of wonder and joy. I love it. maybe I will video it since you do need to see the hand motions that go with it.

We think that the best part of the trip was our stop at Little America where we saw a real to life Hot Wheels car. I will attach a picture of that it was awesome. I will also put a pic of Tog and her cowboy hubby. They are now on their honeymoon in Yellowstone. OOOOOO.

School has Begun!! DUN DUN DUN

The kids started school on the 26th. I went back to work on the 26th. Our look- out boy is in 7th grade and our galley princess is in 2nd grade. They seem to be liking school so far, but it HAS only been two days. I am enjoying my job at the high school. I was at an elementary last year so it is a huge jump, but I will enjoy it. I have included some pix and a video of Mario Girl riding her bike. She has given us such a hard time this summer with that bike. She refused to ride it. Now since school has started she has decided that she is old enough to be riding her bike to school. Why she has these imaginary rites of age/passage I will never know. I am glad that the bathroom rite is over though. Jack is going to be in band again this year, plus he wants to do swimming again. Yes. I know that I said the wrong name in the video. I can't remember EVERTHING:)

My sister's shower was fun and turned out great. Since I was busy being the hostess I don't have any pix. I will have to get them from someone before I can post any. The only thing that I would do different would be the apron game. I would play it differently. Other then that, it was a blast. I think that everyone had great fun, and a lot of laughs.

Back to School:(

This is the time of year that I like the least. I dislike the whole back to school shopping thing, and I really hate having to send my kids back to school. No more spending all day together doing whatever we want. I miss my kids during the school year. If I could home school I would be all over it. Enough boo hoo-ing.

Yesterday the kids and I went school shopping in Cheyenne. For those who don't know where that is it is 2 hours east of my little town. I am very exhausted today. The Cap'n is a much better shopper then I am. He actually enjoys it in large amounts!! The kids got some really cute clothes though. I loved the shoe shopping though. They are excited. They want to wear them today:)

A few days ago the Cap'n took the kids shopping in Laramie to get school supplies. They went in the jeep with the front top panels off. Well, this is the time of year when random storms form and dump heavy bursts of rain. Needless to say they got rained on as they were coming home. They loved it and have been talking about it ever since. O, the simple joys in life.

So here we are the last week of July!! JULY!! For those that don't live in Wyoming it means that summer is almost over. We don't have indian summers! We have summer, winter, and a few weeks of inbetweens. Winter is like 9 months out of the year. I just want to cry. I am still tramatized by last years winter which was the worst we have had since we moved here. There is still snow in the mountains. Some people can't get to thier million dollar cabins cause of the snow. Now that is truely sad don't you think?.
TOG is still getting married. I have planned a shower for her and am very excited. I think that I actually have some good ideas for it. I am not the most creative person, so I stole them from the internet. It is Aug 16th I will have to have someone take pix so that I can post them.
Horray for Arial the mermaid queen for running a race in SLC. That is awesome!
Sadie we are all praying for you here and hope that you get well. You will make it. Just do what the doctor says. You are a strong and wonderful girl and very brave to give yourself your own shots. YOu amaze me.
To end on a good note. The crew is whole again! Yeah everyone has returned back home and things are back to normal. Mario Girl had tons of fun in Utah. ONe-eyed Jack had a blast at camp. He burned his nose and got a blister so he is now on his way to skin cancer. He got three badges; wood carving, swimming, canoeing. Those are great skills for a young pirate monkey to know.

This is a short post about wood. The forest people have been busy cutting down dead trees, thanks to the notorious pine beetle. Since there is a very large abundance of dead trees they have decided to give it away free. We took this opportunity and ran with it. We went and got our free permits and have been hauling wood all week. The kids are gone to camp and Utah so we have used it to our advantage. Instead of sitting around sulking that our kids are gone. They are our main source of entertainment.
Now we are very sore all over our bodies. But we have tons of wood!!! We have more wood then we have room to store it. So we have a year supply of wood storage. Plus enough to burn this winter.
Yeah wood!!
Now it is time for my kids to come home. I miss them!!!!!

The longer we live here in Wyoming the more I wonder; why? Why do we live here? What is there in Wyoming. So, since we are not going to be moving for several more years I have decided I need to come up with a list of reasons why Wyoming is a good place to live or be. Now that it is summer the list will be easy, but if I wait until winter to start the list then I won't do it. I am starting a list on the side bar so that I can add things as I think of them.
The slideshow I promised to post is slow in coming. Sorry I just am not getting it on the element page like I want. Plus I have to help Zoe with her's first. I may end up just putting it as a post.
With my sister getting married the Cap'n and I have once again thought about our wedding(elopement). We have heard over the years the concern that we may not actually be married. I went to the Carson county web-site and looked to see if we were listed in the marriage records. This is what I found:

Pirate Hair

I am so bored with my hair! So I went to a beautician to have it changed into something not so drab and not so long. I tried to dye it orange and purple, but apparently people here aren't in the habit of choosing odd hair color. I did still dyed it, but it is not exactly what I wanted, but it is still ok. I also chopped off a huge chunck of hair. It is nice and cool now. And it feels thicker now that it is short. I chose not to show my face cuz I look old and saggy. Dang getting old!!! Maybe I should try skin abrasion or what ever it is... LOL JK! I am not that vain; yet.

Our guard ship dog has worn the pads on her front paws and can't walk:(. We are so sad for her. We had to buy her shoes so she can go play.
I have included pix from our spring Denver trip from a couple of years ago, cuz they are cute and they are new pix to all you. and sometimes it is fun to reminisce about the past. We have got to do it again with more people. It was a blast. Next time we will go to the Mint.

Sparklers & Treasure!

Now for the reason that you all read my blog . Kid pix of course!! Apparently ALL fireworks are prohibited in our county. It's just like prohibition times. Everyone does them anyway. Even sparklers are banned. Crazy if you ask me. We went to the backyard and did our illegal lighting of our sparklers. Although, I didn't learn that they are illegal until the next day. Here are the pix. The kids were so excited they refused to hold still so all the pix are blurry, but you still get the idea.

I have to brag about Cap'n Mo he is becoming quite the treasure hunter. He recently found a ring in a parking lot. It is a garnet(January birthstone) with 2 tiny diamonds on opposing sides. I took it in and had it cleaned and looked at by a jeweler. It is worth $200 - $300. WOW! What a find. He now looks on the ground all the time, 'cuz you never know what you will find down there. Sorry the pic is blurry but I just couldn't get focused.

I am so excited to be able to announce that MY sister is getting Married! You heard me right she is getting married. I am actually speechless. All I can say is YEAHHHH!! and maybe argg.
Here is a picture of her and her fiance.

His last name is Gregory. So my sister will be T.E.G. She was hoping to someday be a T.E.N, but love doesn't always follow the path you hope for. Since I have named her "That One" for blog purposes, and cuz that's what Mario Girl called her when she came home from her mission. She will soon be called That One Gregory or T.O.G. At least on my blog she will be called Tog.
So since I eloped (which I still think was way easier then planning a wedding) I am excited to help her plan hers. She thinks that I am going to be planning the whole thing, but really I find it too overwhelming, hence the reason I eloped. I will be needing to plan a bridal shower so I could really use some ideas from those of you that chose the non eloping route to marriage, or those who have had to plan bridal things before.
Maybe I should plan her wedding. It could be circus themed. We have cotton candy and a tight rope already. How hard would it be really to get an elephant or two and a lion tamer? Circus tents are nice a big, it would hold everyone and then some. The primary colors are always a great choice in wedding colors. Maybe even some monkeys would be fun. We could have poo throwing contests. Or maybe a pirate theme. Pirates and monkeys. They both like cotton candy and walking tight ropes so it could work either theme.
Maybe I will just leave the details up to her.
Now for my dilemma. I really want to have a cool blog layout that is unique to my theme. I am not too sure how to create my own. I have looked and everything I have found is still pretty generic and I can't seem to make it work on my blog page. I did find a lady that makes blog layouts and she can make me a layout unique to my own for only $80. So do I pay her to use her creativity and know-how, or do I keep searching the web for ways to make my own? I really don't know what it takes to make one so I need advise on this. You can vote(top right) or comment or both.
And last but in no way least Mario Girl has been taking pictures of all the animals that we have and of us as well. She is wanting to make a slideshow post of them so be watching for it. It will astound and amaze you I am sure. She is also making me scrapbook with her this summer as well. Where did she come from?
Well now that I am feeling better I have no real excuse('cept pure laziness) for having a messy house so I better go clean it. Yeah T.O.G!!

SUMMER!!!!

So Summer is finally here!!!! YEAH!!!! It has been long in waiting. So to celebrate this most favored solstice of the year we hopped into our Jolly Roger, set our sails and went to Saratoga to play in the lake we also tried to get into the hot pool, but it was way too hot. We also on a separate day went south of town for fun. We went on a dirt road that we have never before explored. It was a very pretty area. So for those of you that have no idea what our area of the world looks like you will now get a small peak at what we see here. I was going to say civilization but that would be silly since there really is none here. LOL!!! Just when I can't stand this place another day summer hits and the beauty around us magically appears. I love the summers here they are the best. Okay so the slide show thing isn't working. I need help!!! I have spent all day tring to make it happen and I can't figure it out.
As for an update on our goings on:
Mario Girl's Bunny Oreo has mites and has scratched off a lot of fur. So we took her(Oreo) to the vet and got her mites taken care of. I wish I could take my kids to the vet it is sooooo much cheaper. Plus M.G.'s hair is amazing! Check it out!

One-Eyed-Jack is the same nothing sad or exciting has happened. That is good cuz we don't need too much excitement at one time. He can wait his turn.
Cap'n Mo has been working A LOT!!!! It makes for nice checks but we miss him tons!!!
As for me I am recovering from a major cold or bronchitis that I got the day after our great rafting adventure. I think that is because Cap'n kept pushing me into the cold river water. I am also recovering from the shock of having to clean up sewage from my basement. This has been the longest week ever!
My dog Genevieve had a strange episode last night that scared all of us to death. It appears that she may have had a seizure. We take her to the vet on Friday. We just don't seem to have luck with our animals. We have one cat that has asthma and goes into anaphilactic shock on occasion, another cat that has a bladder problem so she has to be on steroids so she doesn't pee on everything. She also lives outside, cuz of her sad bladder. We once had a ferret with cancer. He died.

Beer & brown lawn?

Cap'n Mo read that if you put beer on the brown spots on the lawn where the dog pees then it neutralizes the acid in the pee and so the grass will grow green again. So Monday when we got back from rafting we went and bought the cheapest beer we could find. Being pirates tho we should have used RUM. Cap'n Mo poured all the beer on the lawn. Hopefully it will work. Otherwise all we have is a very drunk & stinky lawn. Here are some pix

Here is a pic of a strip out by the road that I am tring to improve. It was just full of weeds and wild flowers when Mo threw seeds out there. It really looked sloppy. Now it has very sad plants that I transplanted from other parts of my yard. Hopefully they will recover.

And last of all here is a pic I found of Sadie and Mario Girl when they were about 3 years old. It is funny to see the contrast in them.

P.S. Thanks for the advise on the Mane and Tail shampoo for Mario Girl's hair. I bought some this week and it is already helping. Her hair looks shinier and thicker. She is also neighing a lot should I worry? LOL

This is in response to the comments that I received on the last post.

I was very bored at my graduation. It was enormously long!!!! I think that I wiggled more then the kids (if that is possible). About the rope around my neck, Ya I forgot that I had a good GPA. How smart is that? I kept the rope as a souvenir of my smartness. My diploma was actually in the folder thingy. Cool HUH!! And my name is on the outside. Yes, I do look good in red especially when it is a HUGE gown. I think I shall only wear my red graduation gown from now on.

You are right about Mario Girl and her having to wear dresses all the time, even in the winter. I should also let her wear coats before it snows outside. In the fall she told her teacher that I wouldn't let her wear her coat to school until is snowed outside. Now this is Wyoming!!! It freezes here in July(slight exaggeration). When we found out about this little story we grounded her to the galley for a week.

We are done with School in one week. One-eyed-jack will be moving up to 7th grade. Yea he did it!!!!! Mario Girl will be going into 2nd grade where she will finally have a new teacher. Not that we don't love the teacher that she has, cuz we do.

the Captain and I will not be promoted to anything. Although he gets a raise and I get to move to the next salary step. YEA!!!

Graduation and lots of Snow

YEAH!!!!! I did it I finally got my Associates. It only took me about 16 years, but it is done.

A few weeks ago we went South of Rawlins toward the mountains and took pictures of the snow piles on the sides of the road. The kids and Genevieve loved it.

For those of you that haven't heard we have had a lot of rain the last couple of days. There is flooding in Baggs, and we went to the Hot Springs in Saratoga yesterday and it was over flowing as well as the river. We were also under a tornado watch on Thursday for a few hours. That was exciting! It hit Laramie and then started to head in our direction. The wind changed its course so we were spared.
We have two more weeks of school and then the kids are done for the summer. Well that is all I can think of to say.

Our trip to other places

We drove on a long and windy road to go watch graduations, and animals.
Here are a few pictures of the animals and non animals that we saw.

I think that the one in brown is the non animal that we saw. Notice the big black bulgy spots were eyes should be. Also notice how the kids seem to be avoiding this thing and running in the opposite direction. We call her "That One".

The guy in blue is "King Baggs". Don't look too long at his menacing expression or you may find yourself in some kind of pirate trance were he will turn you into a bag of potatoes. He really likes potatoes.

The Girl graduating is known in the pirate world as "Ariel", cuz she loves water so she is obviously a mermaid. Anyone that has seen "The Little Mermaid" knows that Ariel is the logical name for mermaids. I'm sure she has lured men to their doom by her beauty and now they sit rocking back and forth wondering what they did to lose her.

We left our camera in faraway places and so we don't have pictures of the other events we attended.

OKAY!!!! Here is a new post. You know pirates are berry busy people. We have to plung and pillage ships and hide our treasure from other pirates. We can't be updating our blog all the time. Yes, I said berry. That is because we are berry berry pirates. We say AARGH and berry a lot on our boat.

So an update on the little pirates:

One-eyed-Jack has been going to pirate school as you all know. He has been doing berry well. He has mastered the art of saying "Land Hoe". It was a berry hard quarter, but he made it through. He has also been learning the trumpet for those early mornings when we are too groggy to get out of our sleeping quarters. He still needs to work on it. He played tonight with is fellow classmates. Another thing that he has been doing is swimming. He loves competing against other little pirates to see who can swim to shore the fastest. Our Jack is coming along and one day
we know that he will make it. He is doing very well so far.

Mario Girl is going to school to learn how to be a good galley princess. She is not doing as well as we had hoped. She tends to lie a lot to her teacher about various different things. She has told her teacher that I wouldn't let her wear a coat until it snowed outside. She likes to say that she doesn't have homework. She does keep us entertained with her galley princess wit.
The new school story told to me by another teacher: the first grade girls where standing in line to get a drink when one little girl(greek myth) starts talking about something at home to this teacher. Mario Girl pipes up in her charming way to say that this girl lies all the time. Another girl speaks up and says that greek myth is not a lier and she knows cuz she sleeps at her house all the time.So the teacher says "All the time? Everyday?" And this girl says yes. At the same time Mario Girl's friend coughs into her hand "lier number two." Dumbfounded at this point, the teacher had to walk away. Here are some pictures of her:

As for Captain Moe and me we are busy plundering and hiding treasure day and night. Moe still likes his job and I am excited that I only have a month left before vacation. We recently took our Jolly Roger out for a spin. We got stuck once and another time we popped a tire. It has been a berry piratey time!!!!!

This is our captain, Moe. He is the leader of our crew. He steers us into muddy holes, away from rabid prairie dogs, and over dead water bunnies just to name a few.
